IMEA - The Materials Society is a technical society that has as its
principal function the advancement of all aspects of the technology of
engineering materials, both metallic and non-metallic, including ceramics,
polymers, composites, etc.
IMEA began in 1946 and in 1991 entered an agreement with The Institution
of Engineers, Australia (The IE Aust) to establish a Materials Society
of The IE Aust.
Membership of IMEA - The Materials Society is open to all individuals
and companies interested in engineering materials. You do not need to
be a member of the IE Aust to join.
IMEA maintains close contact with kindred societies in Australia, America
and Europe and is expanding its contacts in other countries.
IMEA's objectives are:
- To encourage discussion
and networking between all people interested in the manufacture,
processing and use of engineering materials.
- To encourage
the study of engineering materials at all levels of education and
research.
To disseminate knowledge in the field of engineering materials
through published papers, courses, technical meetings, conferences & training
courses.
- To assist the
manufacturing and engineering industry in the training of their personnel.
- To strengthen the overall knowledge of materials in the engineering
industries.
